ASHGABAT -- The Turkmen Defence Ministry has begun training military officers in cybersecurity, an employee of the Turkmen military magazine "National Army" said Wednesday (July 10).

The training is taking place at the Military Institute Named for Saparmurat Turkmenbashi the Great.

"That's why a new department opened at the university," said the employee, who requested anonymity.

The military expects the future specialists to strengthen the fight against cybercrime and the spread of radicalism and extremism online, while advancing the government's campaign to computerise the country.
